Seems like things never go to plan.  You have this vision of the way things should be, but times have changed and the past is no longer the present.  Music has changed.  As a youngster, I used to imagine what it would be like to be able to sing or play an instrument.  I always wondered what was going through the mind of the person I was watching on stage.  How do you engage the audience and make them feel what you are singing.  Now, one is lucky to have an audience at all.  The days of going out and enjoying local music has all but stopped completely.  Where are the crowds that used to come out and enjoy getting out with friends and family?  Where are the teenagers that used to frequent the record shops and just “hang out” with their friends?  For many years I have sung and performed in countless venues, yet the crowds are no longer there.  You might be thinking, “well, maybe they don’t like your music!” and you are possibly correct, but that doesn’t make sense when it is many other artists that are feeling the skeleton crowds as well!  No point in talking about family support, that was over with years ago.  Seems most people just don’t connect face to face anymore.  As a teen, I used to “live” at my best friend’s house!  I don’t see that happening anymore!  Seems we have lost communication with each other except via devices!  I love technology, I’m all for it, but I think we need to get back to some human interaction before we become so alien to each other that we grow cold to what makes us human.  Anyway, I just wanted to put this out there!  For those of you who do support local musicians, and you are a marvelous small group of wonderful human beings, we love and appreciate you!  You make what we do worth doing it!
